Project LIVE

The goals of Project LIVE are to foster critical and visual literacy skills in both students and teachers in order to increase student achievement. each participating teacher receives video hardware and software needed to produce educational videos. For an informational flyer on Project LIVE, click here.

A group of teachers works together for one year learning how to use the teaching of video production to students and receive a  "shoot-ready" set of video production equipment and software in order to:

* Build upon standards-driven instruction that leads to measurable student achievement gains
* Foster the use of engaging learning environments
* Increase student collaboration and problem-solving skills
* Address the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act.
* Utilize a variety of digital tools from companies such as Apple Computer and Canon.

If we "do the numbers:"

  • 11 new teachers this year (and all their students)
  • 40 veteran participants (including one who is starting her 8th year)
  • 120 teachers have participated in Project LIVE for at least one year
  • Assuming that teachers have only participated for one year (when actually, we know that many participate in the Professional Learning Groups year after year,) more than 3000 students (120 participants x 30 students) have learned how video production can completely transform learning
