iRead - Using iPods and iPads to Transform Learning

iRead is a program pioneered by technology experts, teachers and students in the Escondido Union School District. Although some people think using iPods and iPads in the classroom is frivolous, quantitative and qualitative data is pouring in that these fast, multi-faceted devices leverage the time, energy and imagination of teachers and students alike. At the same time, users discover new ways to monitor and direct their own learning as well as share information or effective practices with people in the same room or around the world. "Mobile learning devices" yield significant improvements in student achievement and engagement, and even teachers new to this kind of technology rave about new efficiencies and learning breakthroughs. People from every state and countries all around the world visit the District's website to see how iRead works, and many come to visit. Indeed, Apple Computers holds up iRead as a nationally exemplary program.

Be sure to visit the District's Technology page, and click on both the Visitor Page for details and watch the brief videos to get a taste of this exciting program.

This year, the Escondido Education Foundation received an extremely generous donation from an anonymous donor that almost doubles the number of  EUSD students and teachers participating in iRead during the 2011-12 school year. Thank you!
